Programs
Four programs that turn access into participation.
Each program is designed to reach families where they are, with support that is free, independent, and grounded in their own communities.
Program one
Training Activators
We recruit and train young adults ages 18 to 26 to serve as Activators, community educators who lead our family programming in the communities they come from. Training is delivered under the Proximate Educator Model, developed by Dr. Frank Arce of the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Activators serve in twelve-week cohorts paced across the school year. Training is free to every participant.
Program two
Family Programming
Families move through activation cycles: two in-person family gatherings held about three weeks apart, with a guided home phase in between carried by printed family materials. Activators lead hands-on sessions with children, then bring an older sibling or parent into the sequence so the household learns together. Instruction moves through three stages, Learn, Build, and Grow, with materials spanning early childhood through age 18. Family Nights bring the whole community together once or twice per cycle. We also run single-day events at schools and partner sites that condense the full format into one gathering. Everything is free to families.
Program three
Account Guidance
We help families understand the 530A account, a long-term investment account established under federal law that a family may open for any child under 18. We explain how it works, walk families to the official federal process, and support continued use after the program ends. We are independent. We are not a government agency and are not connected with the U.S. Treasury or any account provider. We never open accounts for families, never collect Social Security numbers, and never handle family funds. We share general information only and do not provide financial, tax, or legal advice.
Program four
Starter Contributions
We are developing a program of one-time charitable starter contributions into children's 530A accounts, so that a child in a household without discretionary savings begins with a funded account rather than an empty one. Eligibility will be based on financial need under written criteria adopted by our board and applied by a selection committee. Contributions are outright charitable grants. They are never conditioned on completing our programming or on anything else flowing to the Foundation, and relatives of our board, officers, donors, and Activators are not eligible. This program has not yet begun. It will launch only after our 501(c)(3) determination is complete.
