Governance
How we govern.
Cultivar Foundation operates as a separate legal entity from Cultivar, Inc., with its own board and its own finances. The Foundation follows a written conflict-of-interest policy for any decision involving a related party, and a majority of its board is independent.

Tax status
Our tax status.
Cultivar Foundation is a Texas nonprofit corporation. Our application for 501(c)(3) status is pending with the IRS. Gifts made through the Albuquerque Community Foundation, our fiscal sponsor, are tax-deductible now through that sponsorship. Gifts made directly to Cultivar Foundation will be deductible once our determination is issued. We will update this page when it arrives.
Funds
How the money flows.
Program gifts are payable to the Albuquerque Community Foundation, our fiscal sponsor, which grants them to Cultivar Foundation for delivery. Starter contributions, once launched, will be made by the Foundation as ordinary contributions into a child's existing account, within the account's annual contribution limit. The parent or guardian opens and owns the account. The Foundation never opens accounts, never collects Social Security numbers, and never holds or moves a family's own money.
